CVL Océan Indien summer camp counselors 2013, including Dorianne Etive, for children ages 5 to 14.
Every young person deserves the opportunity to discover their potential and shape their own future.
We are seeking educational partners, community organisations, professional contributors and sponsors to help bring this initiative to life.

13.9% of young people aged 15–24
were not in employment, education or training in 2024, according to International Labour Organization data cited by the United Nations.

11,600 unemployed young people aged 16–24
were approximately estimated in the second quarter of 2026 by Statistics Mauritius.
These figures measure different populations, but both highlight the importance of supporting young people through the transition to adulthood and economic independence.
Know Your Worth. Build Your Future. is a proposed community-based educational programme developed through the A.N.C.R.E.® approach.
Its purpose is to help young people strengthen their self-awareness, develop practical life skills, explore their abilities and make more informed decisions about their future.
We believe that qualifications matter, but they are not the only measure of a person's abilities, intelligence or contribution to society.
The initiative is designed primarily for young people aged 12 to 25, particularly those who:
Have disengaged from formal education or are at risk of dropping out.
Are unemployed or uncertain about their next steps.
Struggle to recognise their strengths, interests or potential.
Lack access to guidance, mentorship or professional networks.
Want to explore alternative educational, vocational or entrepreneurial pathways.
Over 6-8 weeks, they'll go through 4 complementary learning areas, adapted to their ages, experiences and individual needs.
Explore personal strengths, interests, values and abilities through guided self-reflection, practical exercises and creative activities, to begin recognising their own potential.

Explore legitimate feelings or concerns, communication, healthy boundaries, conflict resolution and constructive ways of expressing disagreement.
Develop decision-making skills, self-confidence, problem-solving abilities, personal responsibility and the courage to explore unfamiliar opportunities.

Discover educational and vocational pathways, employment opportunities, apprenticeships, mentoring, financial basics and entrepreneurship as one possible option.
We want every participant to leave with something more practical than motivational words.
Participation would be free for selected young people, subject to securing the necessary funding.
The programme will be developed with appropriate safeguarding, parental consent where required, and access to qualified support professionals.
This initiative complements existing educational, vocational and social services. It does not replace formal education, accredited training, psychological treatment or professional social work.
Our proposed outcomes include:
A clearer understanding of personal strengths, interests and aspirations.
Greater confidence in communicating needs and making decisions.
A personal action plan with achievable next steps.
Better awareness of existing education, training, employment and community opportunities.
Connections to organisations, mentors or professional services that can support their next steps.
Mauritius is home to educators, coaches, mentors, entrepreneurs, facilitators, social workers, employers and community leaders with valuable experience.
Many already design training programmes, deliver workshops and develop learning tools tailored to different audiences.
We believe these capabilities can contribute to youth development when combined with local community knowledge, educational expertise and sustainable funding.
Rather than keeping these programmes accessible only to a niche, we want to build bridges between young people, professionals and institutions.

Access to opportunities should not depend solely on the environment in which one grows up or the people one knows.
