To be Mauritian or not to be Mauritian

Many Mauritians love their country.

Many are also wondering whether they can build the life they want here.

Some have already left.

Some are planning to leave.
Others would leave if the right opportunity arose.
Others want to stay but are struggling to see where they fit in.

So, how can Mauritius become a place where we can not only stay, but also belong, grow and build a future?

Do Mauritians genuinely feel that they have a choice?

Leaving Mauritius is not a failure.

Staying is not automatically an act of loyalty.

For some people, leaving may be the right decision.

For others, staying may be.

So the purpose of this movement is not to tell Mauritians what they should choose.

But instead, to reflect on questions such as:

Can they access opportunities?

Can they participate?
Can they build?
Can they contribute?

Can they imagine a future here without feeling that they first need to:

Become someone else,
Know the right people,
Belong to the right circles
Leave the country altogether?
